If you're unsure how to clean cloth nappies, we've broken it down into four easy steps for you. Cleaning cloth nappies has never been easier and gone are the days of soaking and smelly buckets.
Step One: Remove nappy and flush solids down the toilet. Rinse if desired. Place wet and soiled nappies into an open air basket or dry pail.
Step Two: Every 1 to 2 days place all nappies from the dry pail into the washing machine on a 30-60 minute cycle ideally set at 40-60 degrees Celsius. This pre-wash step is important to remove all of the soiling prior to running a main wash. There's no need to hang them out once the machine is finished. Simply place them into another open air basket or dry pail. The more air that can circulate, the less chance there is of bacteria growing and, don't worry, your house won't smell.
Step Three: It's time for a main wash! Place all pre-washed nappies into the machine and run on a long cycle (ideally 2.5-3 hours) at 60 degrees Celsius.
Step Four: Hang out to dry on the clothes line or tumble dry on low.
